Explore the Missouri River By Canoe &
Kayak
Paddling the Missouri River will change your view of the river forever.
No other river experience allows you the solitude and up-close-and-personal
view of the river.
Whether you go on one of our
guided trips or not, please understand that only experienced paddlers who
understand the unique nature of the Missouri River should get on the river
without someone who has experience on the river. Exploring the river by
canoe with experienced paddlers is something you’ll never forget. Most
first-time paddlers on the Missouri are surprised that the river feels more
like a slow-moving lake than a fast-moving big river.
There are several great resources for boating and paddling the Missouri
River: the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Lower Missouri River Guide to
Recreation and Visitors Safety; the Corps of Engineers River Charts;
and the Paddler’s Guide to Missouri.
Author Brett Dufur has also written a book helpful for planning purposes
called Exploring Lewis & Clark's Missouri.
